The International Council of Swedish Industry (NIR) is a part of The Confederation of Swedish Enterprise (Svenskt Näringsliv). NIR is running a collaboration project on innovation systems in Cuba, financed by Sida (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency). Within this NIR framework, Charles was invited to give a speech at the conference “La Universidad y la Agenda 2030 para el Desarollo Sostenible” at the University of Havana on February 12, 2020. The topic of the speech was “A Holistic Innovation Policy for Sustainable Development and Economic Growth – with examples from Sweden, and what it means for Cuba”. During his visit, Charles also had separate meetings with representatives of the Havana University, The Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Economy and Planning.
